“He was honoured for spearheading a “team" called Action Group at Kabwata in 1954. He defied police powers to control public meetings, through the Chakanga Choir Group which composed and sung liberation songs. The songs inspired others to join the freedom fight. He was among the people who went to the Lusaka City Airport together with Julia Mulenga Chikamoneka to protest before Mr. Iain Macleod the British Secretary of State for the Colonies. He was arrested and imprisoned at Kamwala Prison in Lusaka.”
