“She was honoured for rendering loyal and distinguished service as a teacher. She worked with Julia Chikamoneka to organize pupils to protest against the colonial masters and she was arrested and tortured. She was active in the promotion of womens’ emancipation. She led a group of female teachers to protest against the denial of paid maternity leave to female workers. The protest resulted in the granting of three months paid maternity leave.”
