“He was honoured for his contribution to the freedom struggle, having started his career as a youth leader. He was UNIP Youth Regional Secretary for Kitwe, Kalulushi and Mufulira and became member of Parliament for Kitwe North. He and others like the late Justin Kabwe, influenced the party leadership in 1961 to hold elections in order to replace some members of Central Committee who had shown signs of tear and wear in party organisation.
