“He was honoured for providing political leadership in South Africa and Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) where he was General Secretary of the Garage Workers Union in Bulawayo and was a representntive of the African National Congress (ANC) of Northern Rhodesia there. He was later deported to Zambia where he continued providing political leadership in Gwembe District, first as ANC and later he joined UNIP. In Gwembe district, he became Manager of Zongwe Co-operative Society and Councillor of Gwembe Rural Council. He was appointed Mansa District Governor and National Guidance Governor in Lusaka.”
