“He was honoured for the act of bravery. On 19th December 1966, while on duty as a Warder at Lewanika Hospital in Mongu, Western Province, he heard that a house nearby was set ablaze. He went immediately to the scene and rescued single handledly three children who were trapped inside and succeeded in removing the property from the house. By his prompt, brave and resolute action only one person was injured and no property was destroyed or damaged.”
