“He was honoured for being an ally in the struggle for Zambia’s independence and his commendable contribution to the Lala people of Serenje District of Central Province and Zambia during 38 years of his reign. He was praised also for having served in the public service in the Colonial government as Court Clerk in Senior Chief Muchinda’s Court before he was installed as Senior chief Muchinda in March 1945. He was regarded those days as a very educated person since he had acquired Standard Three level of education. He was an ardent supporter of the party and its government. Born in 1896, he died on 22 February 1983 at his palace at the age of 76 years.”
